Ayurveda considers Ahara one of the major supports of life and health. Dietary advice is individualized according to factors such as Prakriti, Agni, age, season and health condition. It emphasizes fresh, wholesome food, appropriate quantity and timing, and eating according to digestive capacity.
Modern view
Modern nutrition focuses on adequate carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals, fibre and water. A healthy diet emphasizes variety and nutritional adequacy, with appropriate energy balance and limited excess salt, free sugars and unhealthy fats.
Integrated perspective
Ayurveda emphasizes how, when, how much and according to whom food should be consumed, while modern nutrition explains nutrient requirements and physiological roles. Together they can support personalized and balanced eating habits.
